What To Know About Lemon Law In Maryland
Under the Maryland Lemon Law, a new car must meet certain criteria before you are eligible for its protection. The Lemon Law covers new cars owned for less than 24 months or 18,000 miles, whichever comes first. The car owner must also show that the vehicle is significantly defective (repaired four or more times for the same issue or out of service for 30 or more days).
New and used vehicles may also be subject to the Magnuson Moss Warranty-Federal Trade Commission Improvements Act. It applies to products sold with warranties (promises as to repairs and how a product is supposed to work). The law provides consumers with clarity as to the coverage and a mechanism to enforce the auto warranties. If your vehicle, whether a passenger car, light-duty truck, motorcycle or multipurpose vehicle meets these criteria, you may be entitled to a refund (minus a reasonable amount for use of the vehicle).
